United has recently launched new Mile Play Promotions you can register for.

Mile Play Promotions from United Airlines offers extra miles as an award for completing the tasks listed in the offer, like booking and flying within in a certain time period. This is a great way to earn extra United miles if you are already planned to fly with United in April and May.

The promotion details that you must register for the promotion, book your airfare, and fly your trip before prior to end of promotion period June 5, 2023. The key note to these promotions is when you book your trip, as users who booked their airfare prior to the start of the promotion will not receive credit even if the trip is within the promotion period.

Promotions are currently targeted offers with different tasks and amounts they are rewarded. My offer is to take and fly two trips with each fare needing to be a minimum of $125 in order to receive 2,900 bonus miles which is valued at around $35. While my promotion is not favorable, there have been reports of other users receiving a much larger bonus mile offer for their tasks.

I have recently been a big fan of United as they have continuously worked towards making improvements and stepping up service on their aircraft.

Their point redemptions are attractive and usually work out to around 1.4 cents per point which is pretty favorable compared to most airline redemptions.

A few months ago I opened up the United Explorer Card for the 50k bonus miles after $3,000 spend for use on future travel with the airline.

The United Explorer Card offers:

  • Two one-time United club passes

  • TSA-Precheck or Global Entry credit

  • Free Doordash DashPass

  • Priority Boarding

  • Free checked bag and carry on (even when booking basic economy)

  • 2x miles on United purchases, hotels, and restaurants

  • Travel protections

  • $0 annual fee for the first year, $95 annual fee afterwards

I have already gotten such immense value out of this card when I took a trip to NYC with my boyfriend being able to book cheap basic economy tickets but still receiving free checked bags, priority boarding group 2, free carry-ons, and the use of the new, grand United club lounge in EWR terminal C.

If you are someone that lives near a United hub or frequents United, one of their credit cards can be a great addition to your arsenal for just the benefits alone, especially if you are checking luggage can save you in the long run.
